Principal

My name is Dr. Delora Scaggs, and I completed my undergraduate degree at Truman State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.  I then entered the Master's of Arts in Education Program and earned my Master’s Degree in Education.  I also have my Education Specialist Degree from Lincoln University and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from St. Louis University.

 

I have had the privilege of serving in the Jefferson City Public Schools for the past 27 years.  Sixteen of those years were as a classroom teacher at K, 3rd, and 5th grades.   For three years, I served in the position of Behavior Interventionist--all at East Elementary School. During 2017-2018, I moved to the middle school for the position of administrative intern at Lewis and Clark Middle School.  In that capacity, I developed myself as an instructional leader.  I supported the principal and staff in serving every students' individual needs and helped to make LCMS a school that is both engaging and welcoming to students and their families. I also served in the position of Assistant Principal for 3 years. 

I am in my 4th year, and it is a true honor to be the Principal of Thorpe Gordon STEM Academy. I am excited to work with such a strong group of dedicated teachers, support staff, and families that are committed to making a difference in the lives of our students.  To be the district's FIRST STEM School is groundbreaking, and we hope to blaze a trail that will be followed by others to come.  I continue daily to strive toward the goal of providing a safe, respectful,responsible, and kind environment to ensure academic growth for all students at T.G.S.A.

 

In addition to being an educator, I am married to my wonderful husband, Jason.  We have three adult children; two boys and a girl. l.  In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, reading, and working out.
